Due to their age and lack of experience, kittens are much more curious than adult cats. That is why they try to stick their nose everywhere, examine all the cracks and put everything in their mouth. Think about the safety of your home for a kitten.
Here are the Top 8 main dangers that kittens may face:
1. Open windows and balconies are the undisputed leader in lethal feline accidents.… when your pet, hunting for a fly or butterfly, without hesitation, jumps.
And falling out of the window is not the worst thing, as a rule, cats live. Windows that open vertically for ventilation are a trap too. The wind can blow them shut while the cat is sticking their head out, trapping them. The cat is doomed to a slow death from suffocation.
⠀
2. Doors. Cats hate closed doors. They try to slip into any gap with lightning speed. As a result, doors can close on them chopping off tails and injuring internal organs. The cat can also sit on the top of the door, where we do not look at all.
⠀
3. Cookers. Paw pad burns are not uncommon.
4. Appliances. Before switching on, be sure to check that your curious pet is not in the washing machine, dishwasher, oven or even the microwave.
⠀
5. Household chemicals. If it is not laundry soap, then most likely it is poison for your cat. At the minimum it’s a powerful allergen. Many products with direct contact can cause chemical burns on the paws, and some are deadly poisons.
6. Wires.
Make sure that the kitten does not bite the wires - this is deadly! Think about ways your electric cables can be hidden in your home.
7. Packages.
Many cats like to get inside the packages and play with them, but they can get confused and suffocate, so keep the packages out of their reach.
8. Threads, yarn, and Christmas tinsel.
It's fun to play with all this, but it's also easy for them to choke and suffocate. There is also a risk that the kitten will swallow the thread and then you will definitely need the help of a veterinarian.
